A color contact zero power is simply a term for a contact lens that is unpowered or unable to help correct vision. Let’s explain this a little further.

For a long while the contact lens was thought of only as a way of correcting vision.  For those who were nearsighted, they were a solution to the fashion savvy.  Instead of wearing bulky glasses, the contact lens could be worn instead.  But, in movies and theatre, they were using a costume contact lens that could change the look of the eye.  These are unpowered as they do not alter the vision.

The method of how they work is simple.  The colored part of your eye does not serve a real purpose for vision.  It is the center or pupil that ‘sees’ and that is where vision passes through.  So, you can cover up the colored area without a problem and still be able to see clearly.  This is exactly what an unpowered lens does.  It only covers the colored area and not the pupil.  This allows eye sight to remain in tact.
